TODAY
The Borden-Carleton Fire Department is an ore modern facility with a huge responsibility - it is required to cover the Confederation Bridge, where the majority of dangerous goods cross to PEI
PAST
First fire department was formed in 1929 with the only piece of equipment being a water pump, run by an outboard motor, using the Northumberland Strait as its water source.
In 1943, the fire hall was built, located on Borden Avenue.
Eugene Jessome was the longest-serving fire chief, serving from 1972-1997. He was awarded the fire service Exemplary Service Medal in 1998.
